When you tie the strings tight it hurts to rip away. I wrap my arms around my knees and squeeze my eyes shut, but that dam will not hold. I fear a flood will come, washing my raw heart until it tingles with the salt, reminding me of these wounds that will turn to scars.
Our joy has turned to sorrow and tears, that our happiness might be so much greater when the lost one returns.
Go, my brother, and fly. Let no one tell you how high the sky goes or how long your wings can fly or cripple your wild, untamed freedom. But in the end please return. Do you see our limp as we walk without you? The hole you leave behind is felt by all.
Life is full of seasons. In this moment one is behind, one is before. Our feet straddle the crossing point, our hearts hesitate. To everything there is a season, He has made everything beautiful in its own time. Who can fathom what I AM does from beginning to the end?
Six will go, but one must stay. Five does not split into pairs. It does not fit comfortably around the table. It is not the number we know should be there.
Through words of surrender every saint speaks starts their new life. Yet faith is never removed. I love You, Lord, but I don’t understand Your ways. Who else can fully comprehend, can step confidentially through life because they understand? You never satiate so many questions that trust is no longer needed. That’s not who you are.
You are a faithful God and watch over your own. A sparrow cannot fall without your eyes watching. My brother is out of my hands, but he is in Yours. Please bring him back.

Caleb, you are the best big brother anyone could ask for. I love you tons and will miss you everyday. Please, please come home safely. You are out of my hands, but you are in God’s. My peace is that He is watching over you.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber…

The LORD watches over you—

the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore
